When our mind is experiencing an incessant flow of uncomfortable emotions and negative thoughts, we can say at that time that we are unhappy. On the contrary when our mind is feeling at ease, confident and light, we can say that we are happy.
The practices of meditation and mindfulness taught within Buddhism reveal the technology of happiness and wellbeing, how we can cultivate the causes of happiness and let go of the causes of unhappiness within our own heart.
In this six week course we will learn simple but powerful methods to heal and strengthen our mind so that we can enjoy our life more.

Buddhist Meditation for Everybody
There is a common misconception that meditation involves simply emptying the mind, relaxing or zoning out from your problems. Insight meditation as taught in the Buddhist tradition is far from this – it is a courageous and dynamic discipline that gives rise to profound change in your life. Through experience of insight meditation you can learn to quickly confront and transform your own emotions from negative or painful to positive and empowering.
In this three week course, you be be presented with practical guidance on meditation and how to maintain a regular practice. Through guided meditation sessions the teacher will lead you to your own experience of deep inner peace and a precious glimpse of the power of your own mind.

What to Expect
Our classes are for everyone who is interested in learning how to meditate, regardless of background or belief. They are designed to give a broad introduction to Buddhist meditation, teachings, and practice. Everyone is invited to use whichever aspects of the teachings they find helpful.
No. Anyone can learn basic meditation and experience the benefits that come from having a peaceful mind.
No. Everyone is welcome, including beginners. All you need is the wish to improve yourself and the quality of your life.
No special clothing is required, come as you are.
No. The classes focus on meditation and teachings alone. You can choose to sit on a chair or meditation cushion.
We are a registered charity run entirely by volunteers, no-one receives a salary. The funds we receive are used to pay for our venues and operating expenses. Although we charge for classes we also offer low-income rates and no one will ever be turned away for lack of funds.
